Phalaenopsis

Phalaenopsis are often called Moth Orchids, from the Greek meaning “mothlike.” There are about 46 species, mostly from the Philippines and Indonesia. Exquisite hybrids have been bred over many generations from species which are the naturally occurring wild plants. They originated in the humid tropical jungles of the Philippines, Borneo, and Indonesia. When their flowers shimmered in the breeze, they looked like moths dancing in the wind.
