So here’s the thing. I really don’t know a lot about orchids or butterflies. But I know what I like. Whether it is nature, people, or even interesting objects or places, I just like to take photographs of things I see that move me or that I want to remember.
I take lots of photos, and I am just learning how to use my camera. For a long time I have been inhibited by seeing all the fabulous images other photographers produce. But recently I realized that I am taking these images for my own pleasure. Here is where I have been and what I have noticed. Enough people have enjoyed what I have shared with them that I now feel confident in sharing my work with more of my friends and even anyone else who wants to spend a few minutes browsing through these images.
Some of you know that I have a blog documenting stained glass windows in Kansas City’s religious institutions, and other places as well (http://bappel2014.wordpress.com). I try to let myself become aware of what I find interesting and beautiful, and, if I have my camera, I try to record it. People, flowers, architecture, stained glass windows, butterflies, and even anything in an art museum that I like, all of it finds its way through my eyes and into my camera. I have been using my photos on cards for family and friends for some time. Now I want to give myself a wider audience and share some of my joy and inspiration with more people. That means with you! I hope you enjoy what you see. Keep looking and responding.
Oh yes, about me. I am a retired educator and professional counselor. I am blissfully married. My two adult children are married and we have five terrific grandchildren. I volunteer as a guide at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City, Missouri. If you are ever in this neck of the woods, I’d be happy to give you a tour. I hope this gives you a sense of who I am and what I am about. I always enjoy reading visitors’ comments, so please add yours. If you click on the FOLLOW button and enter your email, you will get a notice whenever I add to this blog. You may wish to check out the Inspired Glass blog too. It is terrific!
I grew up in Chicago, so I will always cheer on the Cubs. But don’t be misled, I am a KC Royals fan and True Blue.
